Terms and Conditions

The owner/client agrees to accept the Terms and Conditions herewith for each booking made, including an agreement to pay on time, in accordance with the signed contract. Updates to these T&Cs may be made, from time to time and will be made available online.

• An initial FREE consultation meeting will take place at your home, during which you, the client and owner of the dog confirms if their dog has any behaviour or health problems. All relevant medical history is required to be provided (and updated where necessary). Paws Are Made For Walking must be made aware of any behavioural issues with dogs, at this consultation. Failure to do so, may result in additional charges or cancellation of a future contract.
• Paws Are Made for Walking will not confirm any new booking until the client consultation meeting, noted above, has been undertaken and the relevant Pet Information Form, Contract and Vet Release Form have been completed and signed, by the owner/client.
• All dogs must be up-to-date with worming, flea & tick treatments, and vaccinations must also be valid.
• All dogs will be walked on a lead, unless you provide written consent.
• House keys can be collected at the initial consultation. If you decide to use our services on a regular basis and do not wish the inconvenience of continually dropping off your keys, they can be stored by us, in a secure locked safe. Alternatively, you may wish to make them available, for each individual service arranged - if you are unable to get the keys to us, we will collect them within the service area, but will have a small surcharge.
• Paws Are Made for Walking reserve the right to charge for any walks which cannot be completed because they are unable to get into the property for whatever reason, unless previously discussed with owner eg keys being left on inside of door, change of locks etc.
• Sorry, we cannot walk ill dogs or dogs known to have an infection, even on a one to one basis, because of the risk of cross infection.
• Paws Are Made for Walking will not walk dogs left in the house alone, whilst you are on holiday. A kennel boarding service should be used in these circumstances.
• Paws Are Made for Walking reserve the right to stop walking a dog if he shows aggression to people or other dogs.
• Paws Are Made for Walking reserve the right to deny or terminate our service because of safety or financial concerns.
• The client/owner agrees to indemnify Paws Are Made For Walking for any loss or damage caused by the dog whilst being walked. This includes any harm, damage or injury caused by your dog to another animal or human.
• Paws Are Made For Walking will not be liable for any damage or injury caused by your dog excepting that of a proven Third Party.
• It is you the client/owner's responsibility to ensure your dog is fully insured and you must produce a valid insurance certificate at the consultation meeting.
• Paws Are Made For Walking reserve the right to either impose supplementary charges and/or terminate this agreement if, the assignment changes from the description given by the client and needs more time or responsibility or if there is a change in the nature of the assignment which could not have been reasonably foreseen by either party.
• There is always an hour window of time allowed to pick up and drop off your dog ie: 10am pick up can mean a 9am or 11am pick up.
• In the unlikely event of your dog becoming unwell or needing veterinary treatment, we will try to ensure the dog visits its usual vet, where possible.
• The client/owner is responsible for payment of all veterinary fees and associated charges incurred, no matter how they are incurred, whilst they are in the care of Paws Are Made for Walking.
• Paws Are Made for Walking cannot be held liable for any theft or damage to your property or injury/illness to your pet, unless we can be shown to be negligent.
• Paws Are Made for Walking do not walk dogs during thunderstorms or in the event of extreme heat, but will let your dog out to relieve himself/herself and keep him company indoors
• Extreme weather conditions (e.g. heavy snowfall) may mean a curtailment or cancellation of our services at short notice (we will keep your dog company if we can get there)
• Weekly bookings (5 days) are discounted and need to be paid one week in advance. You are paying for the whole week at a discounted rate so we cannot refund for part week, should you not need us. If you do not need us for the following week, we cannot guarantee to have space for your pet without a retainer (50% of your normal weekly fee - per week).
• Paws Are Made for Walking will try to give 24 hours’ notice if we cannot walk your dog. If not, we will refund the fee for that walk.
• If 24 hours’ notice of cancellation is not given by the owner/client, we reserve the right to charge for that walk.
• Payment can be made by cash, cheque, bank transfer or by PayPal. Payment is required in advance of service.
• Please note that a £10 charge will be payable for any cancellation of services, if less than 24 hours’ notice is not given.
• One week notice is also needed if termination of service is required.
• Paws Are Made for Walking will not feed deep chested dogs in the hour presiding or after a walk because of the risk to your dog of gastric torsion.
• Kennel Cough - Although every care is taken to prevent contact with dogs with kennel cough, the incubation period means that it is always possible your dog may pick this up and we cannot be held liable for your dog contacting kennel cough. We strongly advise you discuss kennel cough vaccination with your vet.
• We will not walk dogs who wear choke nor will we administer negative punishment (smacking or jerking collars or any method which may cause the dog pain or distress).
• Holidays - We aim to give you at least six weeks' notice of our holidays.

• Be reliable, punctual and professional with our services;
• We will settle your dog in after a walk, providing fresh water in their bowl and a dry off, on those wetter days;
